Soho. One of London’s busiest, most buzzing neighbourhoods filled with unique shopping experiences, inventive food and nightlife.
But turn down Richmond Mews and suddenly you leave hectic Soho behind. Vibrant in its own way, the Soho Hotel has 91 rooms, each individually designed with fabrics and colours selected by the groups co-owner and design director Kit Kemp.
The Isle of Harris Afternoon G & ‘Tea’ is a stroke of genius from the hotel, which sees traditional champagne swapped for a delicious Isle of Harris gin cocktail infused with hand-harvested sea kelp, dried mango and fresh Madagascan vanilla. There are some nutrients in there somewhere – promise.
Now to the food. In keeping with the theme, savoury items include gin botanical cured salmon with cucumber and lime, while each sweet treat centres around the nine botanicals used to produce Isle of Harris Gin.
Think cardamom and lemon tarts (our favourite). Black pepper and vanilla macaroons. Gooseberry and elderflower fools and a ruby grapefruit drizzle cake. Are you salivating yet?
To amp up your gin experience, order a custom made cocktail from the gin trolley, where your bartender will mix and match your tipple to incorporate the flavours and botanicals from six different gins.
Choose from; Isle of Harris to The Botanist, Gin Mare, Sipsmith, Portobello Road and Burleigh’s. We blended Isle of Harris with Botanist to produce a zestier G & T garnished with mint and dehydrated lemon.
Afterwards, why not book in for a pre or post afternoon pamper at the hotels Soholistic Spa, or catch-up a movie at the intimate Film Club.
