Anna de Codorniu Terrace on the Thames

Ahh, relaxing on the beaches of Barcelona with a glass of Sangria in one hand, toes pressed in the sand… Wait, actually, you’re sitting at your desk and staring at that presentation you were supposed to submit an hour ago. Does this ever happen to you?

Okay, good, we’re not alone… So here’s some good news, especially if you work over in the Docklands area or frequent Third Space Canary Wharf.

Take a scenic ferry ride over to the Double Tree Docklands Nelson Dock Pier and make your way over to the Anna De Codorníu Terrace On The Thames Pop-Up at the Doubletree Hilton Docklands for a dose of summer fun.

Chill out for the evening on their cosy deck chairs where this cava brand, from Europe’s largest privately owned wine estate, will be taking up residence for the summer… Bringing the coastal vibes of Barcelona to our backyard. (Too bad they couldn’t actually bring Barcelona… but we’ll take it!)

After the sun sets, live Spanish music or chilled DJ post-sundown transport you to Barcelona’s best beach clubs. Relax under the oversized parasols and cosy up on the couch with fluffy white blankets on the expansive riverside deck.

If Sangria is your thing, Anna’s offers 4 lovely cocktail choices, so take your pick.

We have to be completely honest and say that the Rojo Sangria is one of the best we’ve had. For something a bit more celebratory (like turning in that presentation, making it through

The Method class at Third Space or even just making it through the day…) then try one of their stunning cavas. The full range of their premium cavas are offered, including the non-alcoholic, Codorníu Zero. We went for the signature Anna Blanc de Blancs and it did not disappoint.

Foodies will love the delicious tapas, inspired by Barcelona’s famous food market, La Boqueria, are served alongside the drinks and we recommend the Ensalada de Gambas with Paprika, the Squash, Rocket & Coriander Salad with lemon and the Calamares con Alioli.

Don’t forget the classic Patatas Bravas, a cheat, but totally worth it.

A special Anna Afternoon Tapas is offered for £21 between 3-6pm and includes three tapas dishes and two glasses of Sangria to share. Alternatively, Anna’s offers a bottomless or tasting brunch available on the weekends from 11-3pm Fri-Sun.

Price: £32 for a flight of 4 cavas and tapas-style brunch dishes or from £15 for bottomless.
