Slingsby Gin

Experts say that up to 80% of what we taste is through our nose. And if a drink looks good, it’s bound to taste good too. Choosing the right garnish is every bartender’s secret weapon.

“It should be visually captivating and deliver either a strong aroma or subtle flavour change to give the drink another level of depth.

Visually stimulating options such as dehydrated fruits tick both boxes because as they rehydrate, they release flavour and aroma, adding another sense to the drink”.

We ask Alex Hanson, mixologist for Slingsby Gin, for his top recipes and tips for creating garnishes at home. Spiralisers at the ready…
