Baker Street may be synonymous with a certain pipe smoking detective, but soon it will be known as the home of hardcore, high-energy spinning. One 10 has arrived, bringing state-of-the-art classes to the heart of Marylebone.

Set up by former Olympic athlete, from the moment you arrive you get the sense that One 10 means business. We hear they plan to roll out at least 15 more studios in London alone.

A minimalist reception area features a juice and smoothie bar and a Björn Borg fitness apparel shop. On the walk down to the studio you’ll find plenty of instagrammable decoration on the walls. Motivational quotes are plastered along the stairwell to get you ready for the gruelling class ahead.

The two studios are finished to a very high standard and are kitted out with Technogym smartbikes. This means that once on your bike, your profile is recognised and you can keep track of your stats and class performance. Handy.

There are two different classes to choose from. ‘Nirvana’ is a more traditional party-style ride with great music and choreography. If you’re used to sweating out to big, Hip Hop beats with a high-energy instructor who likes to have a bit of a dance out of the saddle, then this one’s for you. However ‘Paceline’ is where the studio really comes into its own.

Riders pit themselves against each other, all motivated by seeing their stats on a giant screen at the front of the class – definitely one for the more competitive types. The instructor guides the class on the RPMs and watts for 45 minutes to a soundtrack of motivational music, with plenty of encouragement and advice on the mic. By the end you’ll feel like you’ve finished a particularly hilly stage of the Tour de France…

Post-class you’ll find some very smart (if not a little small) changing rooms and showers with all the mod cons. There are plenty of Cowshed products, towels and hair styling equipment all available for free.

You can also pick up a recovery snack, juice or smoothie from their Tribe bar – the Ultimate PB smoothie is a particularly popular one and all are available vegan or dairy-free. If you fancy something a little heartier, Pure is only two doors up the street.

Want to make an evening of it? Marylebone staple Villandry is just around the corner.

One 10 manages to cater for anyone from the more casual music-motivated spinner, to the hardcore endurance athlete. With so many great food options nearby, it’s sure to become a regular haunt.
