It’s cold, it’s dark, and we still have a long way to go until spring. Hibernation and hygge may lead the way, but when you want a bit of cheering up – and on a Monday no less, kicking the week off with a bang – here’s where you should be heading.

Flesh and Buns, Fitzrovia

The latest outpost of Flesh and Buns is fabulous: buzzy, great food, and a ‘push for Pisco’ button – need we say more? And to make your Monday that much better, it has introduced Maki Mondays: a small handmade maki platter for £10 and a large for just £20, to go with your meal. The large is seriously large, and seriously great, not to mention amazing value. It pairs perfectly with the delish salmon buns and veggie hot stone rice. Sign me up.

YO! Sushi (various)

An oldie but a goodie, Blue Mondays are still a thing here, which means 40 of Yo! Sushi‘s top dishes for just three quid each. Yes, £3. You can order from staff or go the old-fashioned way and take it off the belt. From classic rolls and sashimi to fancy Takoyaki octopus balls and veggie seaweed, there’s something for everyone, and it’s a bargain.

Hawksmoor (various)

At Hawksmoor, the burgers and sides are great, and better still, Mondays are BYOB. So, for just £5 corkage, you can grab your favourite wine and bring it along with you. Bring several bottles, and some friends, and you’ve got yourself both a bargain and a great Monday night.

Nobu Hotel, Shoreditch

By Steven Joyce

Sometimes, you want a fun Monday night out – but you want it to be virtuous and alcohol-free, yet still buzzy. It’s harder to find than you may think, but luckily now you can head to Nobu Hotel Shoreditch. It has just launched an Omakase menu with Seedlip cocktails. It’s five courses, with the roasted arctic char a highlight. The whole thing is nutritious, yummy and the opposite of a bleak and restrained Monday.
