Beauty products the DOSE team actually finish

 Why Trust Us

Disclosure

We at DOSE are very, very lucky that we get to try a whole heap of beauty goodies. Cleansers, oils, mascaras, highlighters – we’ve spent a few years putting them to the test, quietly getting rid of the ones we don’t like, and using our own money to re-buy the ones we absolutely love. It’s a saturated beauty world out there, so we’ve crowd-sourced to see what the DOSE team think is actually worth spending your hard earned cash on.

By Sarah Face Oil. I apply each morning and evening and it always leaves my skin clear, dewy and hydrated. I don’t know if it’s the pregnancy hormones or the oil but I haven’t had a breakout since I started using it and this is coming from someone with combination skin! I get through a 30ml pot each month so it’s a good job they offer a subscription where you save money on every repeat purchase. Her products are all-natural, vegan and 100% organic, which I find reassuring during my pregnancy. The amber glass bottles are reusable and recyclable too! I also love the story behind why the brand was set up. Sarah’s sister, Lauren, was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2012 and after months of treatment, her skin was very dry and sensitive. Sarah tried to find skincare to help but even many natural and organic ranges had long, cryptic ingredient lists that left her feeling confused and disappointed. So she turned to her childhood hobby of making skincare and formulated plant-based blends to soothe her skin – and they worked! She shared her blends with friends and family who also loved them, and now I am her biggest fan. I also can’t live without mineral makeup from Bare Minerals.

“Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone. Instagram may be over highlighter, but I will never be. I’ve tried many, many brands, but always come back to this for its efficacy and being totally idiot-proof. I swirl it on my cheekbones over bronzer for the perfect shimmery glow – it adds sparkle and a filter and never fails to glam me up. I’ve bought this twice since swiping my mum’s years ago. Charlotte Tilbury’s The Dolce Vita eyeshadow palette is also a dream. The copper shade is my favourite and the shimmery brown is a super quick way to get party ready. You can apply with a fingertip and all the shades are idiot-proof. If you have hazel or green eyes, it’s a must.

New Dawn Organic No7 Lemongrass Light Cream is amazing for redness/rosacea and works for sensitive skin, too.”

Lush Ultrabland Cleanser is like food for my face. Boots No7 microdermabrasion facial exfoliator is great, and Elemis Marine Pro Collagen Daily Moisturiser is the secret to my youth (ha).”

“For skincare, I swear by Pixi Glow Tonic and Sarah Chapman Eye Rescue Cream – I use it morning and night and it helps with de-puffing and brightening the bags under my eyes. I also love The Ordinary Rosehip Seed Oil – I use it at night before bed and it works to reduce acne scarring and fine lines. When it comes to make up, Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette is like putting a filter on your face. Erborian CC cream adjusts to your skin tone and has SPF 25, and Fenty Beauty Glossbomb in Fenty Glow suits everyone.”

Maneesha

Glossier’s Milky Jelly Cleanser is the only face wash I’ve had that’s taken all the make up off, cleanses the skin and doesn’t dry it out or make it act up. I’ve re-bought it so many times. Murad Nutrient Charged Water Gel is my new go-to moisturiser and Lush Grease Lightning is literally the only gel I’ve ever had that consistently gets rid of breakouts. For make up, I love The Ordinary High Adherence Silicone Primer and Nars The Multiple – I use it as a blush or highlighter, but it can also be used on your eyes, lips and cheeks. It’s super handy and easy to use – it goes on as a cream/balm and dries into a sheer-ish powder.”

So there you have it. Never be fooled by branding again!
