Why brow lamination is the new microblading

If eyebrows are your thing and you’re tired of brow gel and unruly hairs, you need to know about the latest eyebrow shaping innovation and alternative to microblading. Enter brow lamination.

I was very, very intrigued to hear about brow lamination. As someone who likes a ‘big brow look’ as modelled by Cara Delevingne but is also a fan of low-maintenance beauty, this semi-permanent solution seemed ideal. In this article I will explain everything you need to know about a eyebrow lamination treatment and how you can achieve a fuller brow.

What is brow lamination?

Brow lamination is a beauty trend fresh from Moscow, where the beauty and salon culture is huge, the co-owner of Brow Bar (118 Knightsbridge) tells me, as I prepare to get laminated.

The idea is to not add in hairs but to create the desired shape by brushing them all in the same direction and fixing them there. The benefit of this brow treatment is not only do brow hair look groomed and tidy – but much, much thicker. Plus, they don’t move around and the results last for over a month.

Why brow lamination is the new microblading

The brow lamination process:

The process starts with brushing my eyebrows and coating them with a laminating solution treatment to make them softer and more flexible. This is covered in cling film for around 20 minutes while it sets. Residue is wiped off with a cotton pad.

My fluffy brows are then brushed upwards so they’re all perfectly straight and in one direction. We play around in the mirror – you can choose if you want them all the way up and bushy or slightly leaning to the side – the uniformity is key. Then a second solution is applied, this one to ‘set’ the brows and keep them in place.

After that, a tint can be optionally added for the appearance of extra fullness and definition – and finally, some nourishing oil for hydration is swiped on.

I look in the mirror and I’m truly amazed. It’s a very natural brow treatment and it can only work with what you’ve got rather than adding hairs. However, with all my eyebrow hairs pointing upwards (rather than all over the place!) I’m feeling more pulled together and groomed.

There’s no doubt my brows look much, much bigger and best of all, there is zero maintenance for a month. It’s rare to find a new beauty trend I’m hooked on but brow lamination really is a miracle blow dry for the brows.
