Strolling down the Kings Road on a crisp cold Sunday morning, I do a spot of window shopping, and contemplate how I plan to reward myself following my Barre class at Heartcore…
The studio is positioned in a little courtyard off Burnsall Street. I’m eyeing up Rabbit – the fresh seasonal restaurant that doubles as a convenient brunch spot.
There’s no reception, but it is perfectly proportioned. I enter straight into the studio where I practically walk into a Pilates class coming to an end. The Barre studio is to the left and also has back to back classes so there isn’t a lot of room to hang around. You are here for one thing and one thing only – to work out.
The class accommodates approximately 12 people comfortably and on this occasion Wojtek is teaching a class of 8 at varying abilities…
Unlike myself, Wojtek clearly has a history of ballet with exceptional form and elegance. Both of which I am lacking at the start of the class. But with graceful guidance and patience, our group is soon performing small, isometric movements to an energetic playlist in unison. With low impact movements, some with light weights, others with holds. Our bodies are soon shaking and stretching to burn calories and tone.
As well as a working on your posture and physique, it gives a similar mental benefit to Yoga and Pilates, leaving you tranquil and relaxed. You won’t necessarily break a sweat, but it is fun and you will feel the effects the following day in your abdominals and quads!
Other classes available at HeartCore Chelsea include TRXCore (Lower, Upper & Full Body), and Pilates.
