A technical boxing gym in the heart of Dalston off Gillet Square, led by five time international amateur boxing champion Carlos Moreno. A rebellion against the ‘watered down’ version of boxing (aka boxercise) Moreno aims to provide people with proper technical boxing training so you don’t leave the gym feeling unsatisfied with a poor technique.
If you want to act like a real boxer, you have to behave like one. Hand wraps are essential to attend this class. If you don’t bring them with you, you’ll need to purchase for £10.00 before class otherwise you won’t be allowed to take part – believe us, we’ve been there (there’s a cash point in an off license round the corner).
Classes include IBXT (Intensive Boxing Cross Training) a 60 minute boxing conditioning class designed for those who want to learn boxing mixed with bodyweight, functional and weight lifting training. Or if you fancy something more technical try TIB Beginners – great for those who want to learn the basics with an experienced (and patient) boxing instructor!
For some post-workout refreshment, head to Cafe Route (a five minute walk away) serving all the usual Eggs Benedict/Royale/Florentine served with a Hair of the Dog like Red Snapper (Gin Mare, Tomato Juice, Veg Broth, Salt, Lemon Juice, Tabasco and Black Pepper). Moreno Boxing has limited facilities so if you’re local – best to pop home for a shower first, otherwise be prepared to sit sweaty in your kit or order on Deliveroo!
