A five minute walk from Clapham Common station, pass an enticing French creperie La Petite Bretagne on route. But you’ll have to earn that cheesy pancake. We don’t care if it’s made of buckwheat flour and gluten free…
Head down some stairs to an intimate basement space with a small changing area, digital lockers and one studio. When we said three classes under one roof, we were kind of expecting three studios. Instead, spin bikes are swiftly replaced by TRX and kettle bells for yoga mats, which seems like an awful lot of work. Especially for our heavily pregnant teacher. Thankfully she’s aided by a team of helpful assistants.
We’re here for Oncore HIIT. 45 minutes of squats, lunges and burpees to get the heart rate up, followed by circuits of ski ergs, step ladders, squat holds, planks, TRX and kettle bell swings.
Other classes include Oncore Spin – a full body workout on a bike with sprints, resistance tracks and weights – all choreographed to the beat of the music. And Oncore Yoga – a fast paced, mindful flow.
It’s easy to see how the versatile space lends itself to multiple disciplines. Though we do love a stage when it comes to a spin, which sadly this space lacks.
Expect high intensity classes with pumping tunes that will get the heart rate up and help you break a sweat… that’s surely deserving of a gluten free crepe stuffed with veg (… or Nutella).
