Fitness is big business in this financial district. After a day at the grind, suits are clocking off on time and slipping into something more comfortable. Turns out, exercise makes us a lot healthier, happier and more productive at the office. Who’d have thought!
If you work in the area, or just fancy a ride on the Jubilee line, take a high-octane spin class at Psycle or a session at Studio Lagree. Pilates like you’ve never experienced it before – opening in Canary Wharf September 2017!
When the hard work is done, refuel at ROKA and spend an evening sampling sophisticated robatayaki cuisine…
Ride the elevator up to ROKA’s impressive space. Deeply coloured wooden walls line the high-ceilinged dining room. This is definitely the place for a special occasion. (Every night is a special occasion though, right?)
Enjoy one of three bespoke cocktails like the “Chita Cooler” on the Suntory Chita Whiskey’s pop-up on the terrace, overlooking Canada Square.
After a cocktail (… or two), head back inside for dinner in the enchanting dining room to sample some contemporary Japanese robatayaki.
We recommend ordering the ‘Twinkle’ tipple with Ketel One vodka, champagne, elderflower cordial and a lemon twist. Or if you’ve had enough cocktails on the terrace (or are skipping booze altogether) relax, ROKA has a list of pressed juices and ‘cleansers’ like the ‘Ju No Ome’ with lychee juice, mint, lemon and apple juice.
The sashimi tasting platter is the ideal way to begin any meal at ROKA. Not only because of the taste, you’ll simply be bowled over by its presentation.
The menu is divided in sections so it’s ideal for sharing. After the sashimi, move on to the lamb cutlets with Korean spices and a few sides of veggies like the asparagus and tender stem broccoli.
The Matetic Corralillo Syrah was the perfect pairing wine for the lamb (thanks to the restaurant’s sommelier for the tip!)
