Midnight swimming at Hampton’s Pool
The options are numerous here. Hardy types can venture to Hampstead Ponds but Hampton’s 36m outdoor pool is toasty warm at 28 degrees. Head there for some exercise (you can swim laps or do your own water aerobics) at any time but this summer, you can do a moonlight dip from 10pm ’til midnight on specific days (June 21, July 26, and August 16 and September 13).
Morning workout at Another_Space
The Another_Space timetable starts from 6:30am Monday – Friday, with pre-breakfast fitness classes including Yoga, HIIT and Cycle. Fire up your metabolism first thing with HIIT. Start the day energised and grounded with yoga or skip the coffee and head for Cycle! Early morning cycle workouts boost endorphins, increase circulation and wakes you up whilst offering a full body workout!
Yoga at the Sky Garden
36 floors high and set amid beautiful greenery, it’s the perfect spot for a downwards dog or two. Sunrise classes run from April until October and are the perfect start to the morning with astonishing views of the city. FYI mats aren’t provided. Take yourself for breakfast after, too – you’ve earned it. Be sure to book your place – you’ll be surprised how many people want a 6.30am slot.
Sunrise Pilates at Pilates Squared
The bright and airy reformer Pilates studio Pilates Squared on Gloucester Road is an ideal spot for catching the morning sun with classes starting as early at 6:45am. With a large window, the whole studio is sunlit and the ideal place to get a head start on the day. Bring two friends, and you’ll make up the entire class.
Summer Solstice yoga
Psycle is partnering with lululemon to do a summer solstice yoga event on Friday 21 June. Celebrate the start of the new season with 108 sun salutations – the challenging flow set to beats from DJ Coco Tiekle will create a powerful session. It’s at Psycle’s Mortimer Street studio, and it starts at 6.30am sharp.
Riverside running and walking
To celebrate the official opening of The Tide, the elevated riverside park on Greenwich Peninsula, Turning Tides Festival is a free festival of wellness, art, music and shoreline feasts inspired by the river. It’s happening on the weekends of 5-7 and 12-14 July. Enjoy yoga, group tai chi and dance sessions throughout the day, while first and last thing, it’s the perfect destination to run or walk alongside – audio meditation points by BeBox along the route will offer guided meditations that respond to the immediate natural surroundings.
London is just one city where you can join the Midnight Runners – pound the pavements at night, lit only by street lamps and stars. See the sights, make new friends, and get in a run, no matter how late it is. They run regular run events – look online or on their Instagram.
