The sky's the limit at Pilates in the clouds

It can be tricky staying on top of the latest boutique fitness openings – so we’ve done the hard work for you, at least when it comes to wellbeing. Charlotte’s rounded up the brand new classes to book if you want to be ahead of the game…

Pilates in the Clouds – Kensington

Pilates in the Clouds may not be brand new but its Instagram is, meaning it’s the first time we’ve heard of it – and we’re excited. This Kensington studio runs 55-minute classes that are by appointment only – exclusivity leads the way here. Rooftop views through the studio’s skylight keeps it dreamy, while sessions include focus on posture, alignment, aches and personal goals. This is proper, focused, tough Pilates, from an expert.

Body By Simone – Camden

New to Camden near Regents Park is Body By Simone, a dance-orientated workout offering a full schedule of fun classes as well as PT sessions. Using high intensity cardio and light resistance, founder Simone de la Rue has a huge following in the U.S. Her technique focuses on mixing it up, avoiding injuries and making a difference to your physique. The Body By Simone bath products are a real post-workout shower treat.

Re:Centre – Hammersmith

Hammersmith’s Re:Centre is a one-stop wellness haven, designed to restore some much needed balance into our lives. Come for yoga and mindfulness, for talks on conscious eating and turning towards love, or to see exhibitions centred around ideas such as climate change – just come. Its vegetarian cafe serves seasonal food, too, if you need another incentive.

Barrecore – Islington

Fans of Barrecore will rejoice that a tenth branch has opened up in Islington’s Upper Street. The movements may look small – a clench here, a pulse there – but they’re tricky and effective. Remember, the last few repetitions make the difference when it comes to this barre class that uses low intensity, fat-burning interval training, making it gentle but effective. Everyone in the class is serious hashtag goals, too.

Pilates Squared – Kensington

This Kensington haven is where you come for discretion and a super tough reformer Pilates workout. Pilates Squared is based on founder Caron Bossler’s Body by Design method and instructor Hakan Erol (supermodel Giselle’s former body guard) puts you through your paces in a serious way. He doesn’t just use the reformer – expect balls, bands and weights here, too. He can focus on a particular body part (hello, burning inner thighs) or total body.
