Why we're a fan of the non-alcoholic cocktail hour

This is a topic that Oenone Forbat, host of the ‘Adulting‘ podcast, covers in her latest episode with guest Daisy Buchanan, an advocate of the non-alcoholic cocktail hour, who discusses why it’s great to have days off drinking to instil some balance. We couldn’t agree more, which is why we’re swapping those boozy midweek Zoom sessions for a non-alcoholic cocktail hour.

This summer we’re all about CEDER’S Pink Rose as the perfect drink to enjoy with friends (from a distance). A distilled non-alcoholic spirit with juniper and floral hints of rose and hibiscus, it combines exotic botanicals from the Cederberg Mountains in the Western Cape of South Africa with pristine Swedish water. It’s also vegan, gluten free and sugar free, with only 2 kcal per serve.

It’s there for you when you want a drink without the hangover or when you fancy something deliciously refreshing but feel like being a bit more conscious of your alcohol intake.

Here are some of our favourite ways to serve this splendid pink concoction…

CEDER’S Pink & Tonic

Ingredients

50ml CEDER’S Pink Rose
150ml Indian Tonic water

Method

Build in a tall with cubed ice. Garnish with a sprig of mint and 3 raspberries.

CEDER’S Pink Rose Spritz

Ingredients

50ml CEDER’S Pink Rose
25ml Pink grapefruit tonic
75ml n/alc sparkling wine

Method

Build in a wine glass with cubed ice. Garnish with a grapefruit slice.

CEDER’S Pink & Peach

Ingredients

50ml CEDER’S Pink Rose
35ml Peach iced Tea 50ml Mediterranean tonic

Method

Build in a highball with cubed ice. Garnish with a peach slice and a sprig of rosemary.

CEDER’S Garden Fields

Ingredients

50ml CEDER’S Pink Rose
5ml Pink Rhubarb Cordial
100ml Mediterranean tonic

Method

Build in a wine glass with cubed ice Garnish with a lemon wheel/ rhubarb ribbon.

CEDER’S Sun & Delight

Ingredients

50ml CEDER’S Pink Rose
3 raspberries
2.5ml 0r 1/2bsp agave syrup
10ml pink grapefruit juice
Raspberry kombucha

Method

Shake all ingredients except the kombucha. Strain into a rocks glass over cubed ice. Top with raspberry kombucha. Garnish with a rose petal.
