Are you in need of some spiritual awakening and emotional recalibration? Then look no further than the Meadow Hut experience at The Coach House Spa at Beaverbrook. The ‘Vibration Sound Bodywork’ treatment incorporates: energy cleansing with sage and rosemary; sound bathing that uses chimes, Tibetan bowls, gongs and tuning forks; and a full body massage, to help you relax, release and recharge.

We tried the treatment with Lino Zinchi, head therapist at Beaverbrook, whose skills as a health practitioner and yoga instructor, specialising in body realignment, biodynamic breathwork and reconnecting meditation, all come into play in this new and unique and spiritual treatment that will leave you on a higher plane…

Arrival at Beaverbrook

We arrive at Beaverbrook after a four hour drive, frazzled and posture somewhat impaired from the stresses of modern living.

Our room for the evening is situated at The Garden House. Nestled within the estate’s traditional walled kitchen garden, with peaceful woodland views. It exudes English Country Cottage charm and its bountiful produce is used throughout the estate, providing the freshest fare for Beaverbrook’s three restaurants.

We had intended to eat in the restaurant, but arriving after 9pm, we order room service from The Garden House Restaurant to our quaint south-facing room that benefits from a beautiful bathroom with a walk in shower and bath with Bamford amenities.

After snuffling a welcome truffle or two, we dine on a prawn, garlic and parsley fishcake served with crispy potato, spinach and lemon butter with a side of charred broccoli and chilli dressing. A filling, ‘meaty’ and buttery dish that is something of an upgrade to the roadside snacks, washed down with an obligatory glass of Malbec and sleep soundly.

The Meadow Hut Spa Day

The next morning, we make our way over to try a Vibrational Sound Bodywork treatment in The Meadow Hut, that incorporates energy cleansing with a sound bathing ritual and a full body massage.

Situated near the spa, The Meadow Hut (like a Shepherd’s Hut), is set on its own surrounded by wild flowers and grass.

We meet with head therapist Lino Zinchi, a health practitioner and yoga instructor, specialising in body realignment, biodynamic breathwork and reconnecting meditation. He talks us through the treatment that hinges on the power of sound vibrations to balance the body, reduce stress, improve mood and provide physical pain relief.

The experience begins with a reflexology ritual for the feet and a smudging session using sage and rosemary to cleanse the body. Next a singing bowl is placed in our hands as Lino plays a singing bowl. The vibrations tune the body before the treatment, like a guitar.

Asking for a ‘firm pressure’ with Lino is not for the faint hearted. His expert technique combines shiatsu, Ayurvedic pulling and Chinese energy release. He works so deeply that the massage feels very intense at times – particularly on the scapular and iliotibial band – but Lino expertly guides the session with breathwork to manage the release of tension. He summons stresses away with exaggerated “whooshing” sounds that leave us feeling in the presence of a true body healer.

What happens next is truly transformational. Lino conducts a sound bathing ritual that uses chimes, Tibetan bowls, gongs and tuning forks. Our body lies still and supple, whilst our mind transcends into a celestial realm, akin to what we only imagine a psychedelic experience would feel like. By the end of the session we feel recalibrated, emotionally restored and on a higher plane.
